I met Joyce when she began work at Moss Adams. Sometimes we shared work space, and sometimes we didn’t. She was as a wonderful mentor to me over the years, and I learned to be very well organized because of her. If I had a question, I knew I could always ask her and would receive the correct answer. All of us there knew we could rely on her accuracy and dependability, even later after we had departed Moss Adams.
We spent time together outside the office too: went to California together to visit her sister Betty, and spent time together in the woods while we hunted. Our trip to New Orleans with work friends in 2001 was one I will never forget. It was my very first big vacation as an adult (37) which I spent much time planning, and Joyce and Linda Lindlief bought me a beautiful carved antique smoking accessory as a thank you. I still treasure it and all of those memories.
My favorite funny memory of Joyce was the “infamous” tax party at Ron Dixon’s house. The liquor was flowing quite freely, proven by the various antics during the night. Poor Joyce might have overindulged slightly, as we were drinking one of her favorites (Crown Royal) late in the evening. We found her in the bathroom wedged up against the door. It took some work to get her to move enough to rescue her from the bathroom and carry her to Gary’s vehicle. As a direct result of that party, we no longer held future April 15 tax parties at anyone’s home. From then on, we always went to a restaurant…probably in hopes that we would not get quite that comfortable again. It’s a memory we laughed about many years later. Oh, and that laugh…..Let’s just say I can still hear that wonderful, contageous laugh in my head now as I am writing this. She will definitely be missed by many.
Thank you so much for sharing this memory, Annie! I can’t wait to share it with Randy.
Joyce will be missed by many, especially her laugh and smile.
She is so dearly missed, thank you for posting your thoughts about her Mary Jo!
Whoever put this memorial together did an awesome job, as Joyce deserved.
